Meeting Place

The AURORA Room at KuBiZ Berne (Lienaustr. 32, 22159 Hamburg) serves as both a meeting place and a workspace for our team. The AURORA playgroup is held here every Thursday from approximately 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Our Motivation
AURORA stands for growing up secure with vibrant wings. At AURORA, children and young people are at the heart of everything we do—protected, nurtured, and free to unfold. Like a butterfly in its cocoon, they find a safe space here to learn, grow, and dream. Our „vibrant wings“ represent diversity, creativity, and a community that empowers and supports every child. AURORA aims to be part of the change, especially for the children and youth of this world. We believe that education must be done differently! AURORA is planning both a school and a playgroup (an alternative to traditional daycare) as places where children and teenagers can learn together in a fulfilled and happy way. Learning here does not involve traditional lessons and has only minimal boundaries regarding time, space, or age. Instead, learning is understood as exploration, as growth from within, and as play. At AURORA School, there are no prescribed learning paths—only endless possibilities. The only limits to these possibilities are one’s own boundaries, the needs of others within the school community, and available financial resources. Needs and boundaries are navigated through grassroots democratic processes, and students receive emotional support from „learning mentors“ (Lernbegleitungen). There are no traditional teachers or hierarchies. Instead, our learning mentors ensure that individual needs and developmental stages are respected. Alongside preparation for school qualifications, self-confidence and health are our highest learning objectives.
